Underwater photo shoots in a private pool near Bordeaux, France

I’ve been an underwater photographer since 1995, and there are three ways we can work together: an underwater portrait session in my pool studio near Bordeaux, a commercial shoot for your brand or project, or one-on-one coaching to take your underwater photography to the next level.

Underwater portrait session

Portrait and fashion, boudoir and fine art nude, maternity, couples and families, or a custom project: bring your own outfits or choose from the wardrobe I provide, and we’ll create striking, memorable images that are anything but ordinary. Weightlessness makes poses possible that simply can’t happen on land. The only limit is our imagination. In a relaxed, trusting atmosphere, I’ll guide you every step of the way toward images that show you at your best.

The look

From concept to staging, we plan your underwater shoot together and put together up to three outfits. Before the session, you send me photos of your clothes and I’ll tell you which ones will work best in the water. I also have a wide selection of gowns, bodysuits, sheer fabrics and accessories chosen specifically for shooting underwater. By playing with fabrics, textures, colors, backdrops and clouds of bubbles, we give your images a graphic, dreamlike quality.

Makeup

I usually work without makeup, for a natural look. If you’d like, a professional makeup artist can do a waterproof look designed to hold up in the water for the entire session. This option is available at an extra charge.

Posing

Before you go underwater, we work on the poses step by step. Together we find positions that suit you, from classic and graceful to the most acrobatic. Every one of them is achievable, comfortable to hold underwater and completely safe.

Pricing

€450 for a one-hour session, whatever the theme, from June 15 to September 15 in my pool in Pessac, near Bordeaux. This includes:

a consultation beforehand to plan the styling and flow of the session together;
outfits and accessories from my wardrobe, in addition to the ones you bring;
exclusive use of the pool for one hour;
one hour of underwater shooting;
six photographs of your choice, picked from a selection I show you after the session, delivered in high resolution.

The price changes if you’d like a two-hour session or more finished images. Off-season, sessions take place in an indoor pool rented for the occasion, and pricing is quoted on request. You can also order fine art prints that I make myself, or give a session as a present with a gift card.

Good to know

No diving or freediving experience needed: all you have to do is swim and be comfortable putting your head underwater. The pool is no more than 5’5″ (1.65 m) deep, so you can always stand up.
Maternity sessions: between the 6th and 8th month of pregnancy, with a doctor’s note confirming there’s no medical reason not to.
Children: welcome at any age; to be photographed on their own, they need to be able to swim.
Boudoir and fine art nude: adults only (18+). You’re welcome to bring someone you trust, and no image is ever shared without your written consent.

Commercial underwater photography

An underwater image stops people in their tracks. Swimwear and fashion, ad campaigns, catalogs, waterproof products, album covers, event visuals or music videos: I design and shoot your underwater content, from pre-production to final file delivery.

I work in my pool studio near Bordeaux, lit like a photo set, or on location, in pools or open water, anywhere in the world. When needed, I put together the team around the shoot (models, styling, makeup) and tailor the session to your requirements: creative brief, number of images, formats and usage rights. For work in France, I hold an up-to-date CAH Class I Mention B, the French commercial diving certification required for any professional work underwater.

Underwater photography coaching

Diving into the underwater world is an incredible experience; coming back with images that do it justice is another story. Mastering underwater photography takes a lot more than a camera and a housing. That’s where specialized coaching comes in, bringing together technique, creativity and an understanding of the aquatic environment to create images that will define your dives.

Want to level up before your next trip? I bring more than thirty years of experience to help you get past technical or creative hurdles. Through video coaching sessions and reviews of your images, I’ll give you the keys to mastering light underwater, understanding animal behavior so you can photograph wildlife in its natural habitat, and taming the technical challenges of shooting below the surface.
