ABOUT

@Marc BUTTEX

I'm an underwater photographer living in France between Bordeaux and Le Croisic. I started diving on the Croisic coast in 1990. Certified Level IV FFESSM, I also dive with Mares Horizon and Shark rebreathers to limit bubbles and noise, allowing me to get closer to the fauna for better images.

I've been using Nikon equipment for underwater photography since 1995. I began my apprenticeship with a Nikonos V, back in the days of film. Today I use a Nikon D850 in a Seacam housing and Nikonos RS 13mm and 20-35mm lenses modified by Seacam. These are the best lenses in existence for underwater photography, with breathtaking resolution despite their nearly 40-year-old design.

The prints sold on this site are printed by me only on a Canon ImagePROGRAPH 1000 printer on Canson Infinity paper.

I have had the good fortune to travel many oceans to produce the images presented on this site. I'd like to thank René Heuzey for introducing me to the many destinations and animals that inhabit the oceans, and Christophe Naslain and Christophe Brachet for introducing me to aquatic portraiture.
